Smoke from fires once again blanketed Manaus on Wednesday night (04) and Thursday morning (05). The Electronic Environmental Surveillance System (Selva) reported that the air quality is considered moderate in the capital of Amazonas. Pollution caused by fires in cities in the Metropolitan Region has been invading the urban area of Manaus since August this year. In September, Manaus recorded its worst fire month of the year, according to data from the "Burning Programme" of the National Institute for Space Research (INPE). There were 6,991 fires up to 29 September, surpassing the number recorded in August, the month with the most fires in Amazonas in 2023.
