The drought and the drying up of the rivers have been worrying producers in the rural areas of Alto Solimões. Many find it difficult to sell their products due to the shallow waters in the region. The lack of rain is also another problem. Some crops are not developing and end up spoiling. According to the state's civil defence, forty-two municipalities are in a state of emergency due to the drought affecting the Amazon region.
