Rice has been cultivated for decades in floodplain areas through irrigated systems. The plantations are concentrated near rivers such as the Rio Branco, Takutu River and Uraricoera River.
The activity drives local commerce and guarantees jobs and income in several inland municipalities, as well as in other states within Brazil’s Legal Amazon region.
